France - Corsica
Some years ago, Cumbria CLIL Director Janet Streeter decided to live in France permanently and has made the beautiful Mediterranean island of Corsica her home.
Corsica is actually a bilingual island. The language is taught to all children and lessons take place in Corsican in Primary and Secondary schools.
In 2021 Cumbria CLIL started offering a limited number of one-week courses for Primary and Secondary teachers in Corsica. The feedback from the participants was excellent.
The course content and structure are the same as at our other locations, including immersion in English, excursions and the opportunity for school visits as required. We have our very own English-speaking guide, who will help you learn all about Corsican history and culture. The course is delivered by Cumbria CLIL tutors and we use our local knowledge and contacts to provide you with a unique cultural experience.
Our Venues
We have a choice of two venues:
L’Ile Rousse: a small seaside town in the Balagne area.
Accommodation: single occupancy rooms in a hotel just 50m from the sea.
Lama: A mediaeval mountain village with spectacular views. Lama Corse | Site officiel de la Mairie de Lama
Accommodation: in self-catering apartments with a panoramic view. The Lama location is ideal for small groups of teachers from one school who would like bespoke courses such as CLIL materials writing, “Tweaking the Textbook” or CLIL coaching.
Meals: we can book lunches and local restaurants for your group as required.
These courses are eligible for Erasmus Plus funding.
